Artist Statement
My macro photographs offer a special perspective for looking at nature. I capture each element in such a way that an image teeters on the edge of abstraction, showing just enough detail to reveal a literal form and the wonderment of its structure.
I create tension in the images using a subject's natural colors, patterns, and textures – along with close-up shots. Like a puzzle or riddle, viewers receive a sense they should know what they are looking at but can't quite figure it out. And once the imagery is recognized, an "aha" moment is created.
